A Kiss Before Dying – Ira Levin
Ah, the mighty Levin.
He didn’t write much, but he wrote good. Boys from Brazil. Rosemary’s Baby. Stepford Wives. And…
A Kiss Before Dying.
[There were more books too, but I can’t remember their names.]
If you haven’t read this thing then I can’t tell you much about it because it would ruin everything. The key is: character perspectives. Levin changes them throughout the book, and it’s probably the best I’ve ever seen it done in a thriller.
There was a movie version too. Matt Dillon sleazing on Sean Young, but they couldn’t really translate the skill of the novel onto the screen. If you’ve read it, you’ll know why. The twists just don’t work in a movie. Or they can’t be convincingly done at least.
It’s released on kindle amazon today, so go over and support Ira Levin. He might be dead already, but i’m sure he has kids or grandkids that need the cash. Support the Levin empire! And beware, some guy has written a book and given it the same title…don’t buy his shit by mistake. Godspeed!
I don’t know what the link is. Sorry.
