AUTOMATIC ASSASSIN loose in Hong Kong

July 17, 2011

Like a comet let off its leash, Automatic Assassin rushed through the great black, looking for a target market…

             …

but there were no target markets in the Universe that day, so…

…it crash landed in Hong Kong and hopped up onto the shelf of a local arts club/gallery type place…

        …

               but…

people came close and tried to pick it up, tried to understand it, its giant eyes, its text teeth, its ‘Hellraiser’ face…

                         …

the staff even paid someone to stand behind the front window all day and hold it in place…

it didn’t matter that Automatic Assassin was a prettier thing than the painting behind it…

                            it didn’t care…

because it wasn’t free, and a sentient book promo like Automatic Assassin had to be free…

so when the ‘someone’ turned and looked at the painting, AA absorbed itself through the window and flew….

it flew high above Hong Kong island and over the harbour to Kowloon…

                         flew to where exactly?

           …

to the only place it wouldn’t be found…

the Takashi Miike/Japanese gonzo section of the most well hidden film store in Hong Kong…

but still it was not safe…the woman in the background was a spy…a very average-looking spy who worked for the movie cafe next door…what was she gonna do with AA??

she put it in a cage…

with Kevin Spacey below and to the left, half his face trapped, promising to be Richard III…

and to the left…people eating as if nothing was wrong…

and on the other side, a debate…a plot to steal more book promos from Zizek Press perhaps…

…or maybe they were talking about Kubrick films…

                       …

whatever the talk, Automatic Assassin knew one thing for sure…

                                           it had to escape…

                                                  [To be continued…]
