COMING SOON: Gupter Puncher Issue 12
Yup, coming to London in 2-3 weeks.
As usual it’s free, so it doesn’t matter if you don’t understand any of it…a friend of mine read something I wrote recently and said back to me, ‘it’s confusing, can you give me some clues’.
I think I can.
For Issue 12, this is what you’ll need to know to get something out of it:
Star Trek [specifically Lieutenant Worf and Klingon culture]
Episode of Star Trek: TNG ‘The Dauphin’
John Sayles [his script doctoring as well as his own films]
Michael Haneke + Shawn Levy
The loneliness of Space
Robocop [most important is the face of the bad guy, Clarence Bodicker]
Flow my tears, the policeman said
Zine novels [Automatic Assassin, Ljubljana Witch and Charcoal]
Mathematics [especially how to work out percentages]
Nick Nolte [and most of his films]
The editorial process of writing a film script
The tedious way all art is described in galleries
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Wentworth Miller [Michael from ‘Prison Break’]
The War on Drugs in Northern Mexico [also spilling into other areas]
Riding on public transport
The Chipmunks [briefly]
The Book of Disquiet [again]
Sado Island [Japan]
That’s it. If you watch/read/take in all of the above then you should be okay.
There’s another thing coming soon, maybe in one or two months. It’s called Re-deem-shun. It’s short, 48 pages, and small, A5. And spectacular.
There’s a separate list of things you’ll need to know for this one. I’ll write it later and put it up here.
I think that’s everything for now.
